This old compact is very sweet and may actually have been made as a young girl’s first compact. The round case is made of brass and it has a hinged lid. In the center of the lid is a raised disk which is painted with a little girl in a full dress holding a watering can. At the hem of the dress you can see her ruffled petticoat and bloomers and Mary Jane shoes. The yellow background has flowers and either birds or butterfly images. Around the outer edge of the picture is an embossed design in the metal. Inside the hinged lid is a mirror and the compartment is empty. There are no markings as to who made this cute piece or what product it might have held. I believe that it is probably from the 1930’s.
It measures about 1 ½” in diameter by just over ½” thick. It is in nice condition with minor wear but there are a few scratches on the picture the largest ones being under the watering can and above the watering can. The mirror is intact and not broken or cracked.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
