These cute pottery figures are an old pair of bookends. Children like these with their round eyes and little oval mouths were popular in the 1960’s. These are made of a light reddish clay with their skin being unglazed and everything else having at least a light wash of glaze. The little boy is dressed in blue overalls and a “straw” hat and the little girl is wearing an ochre dress and has a light blue bandanna. She’s holding a couple of flowers and there is a small bird on each of the tree trunks they are leaning against. These are hollow and they are turquoise flocked on the bottom. The light circles on the bottom are paper plugs over the firing holes. One has a sticker that reads; Made in Japan and the other has a foiled paper label that reads; Enesco - Imports - Japan. These would be great for decorating a young child’s room.
They measures about 6 ¾” high and the base is about 3 1/2” by 4 3/8”. They are in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
