This black lacquer ware bowl is an old souvenir from the Aerial Tramway that rises high above the Coachella valley floor. Different views and angles of the rotating tram are hand painted on the shallow bowl. It also has a view of the Valley Station - Elev. 2643 Ft. and the Mountain Station - Elev. 8516 Ft.. The Tram. On the back is an original foiled paper label that reads; Kelvin’s Reg.U.S. Pat.Off. - Exclusive - Japan. The tram opened in 1963 and I believe this souvenir is from that basic time period.
It measures about 7 ¾” in diameter and sets about 1 3/8” high off the table. It is in very good condition with minimal wear, no chips or cracks. There is minor scuff wear on the back side.
