This little black chef is a figural ceramic bell. His face and facial features, which are rather comical, are hand painted as are his hands and blue hat. These items are painted over the white glaze. He’s holding a gold accented spoon and there are other areas with gold detailing like the outline of his apron and pants. Inside there is a small porcelain clapper on a little string. On the bottom edge of the back it is stamped; Japan. I would assume he was made in the late 1940's or 1950's.
He measures about 3” tall and although somewhat crudely made, he’s in nice condition with minor wear and no damage.
