This old baby basket liner was a Kantwet product made by the Rose-Derry Co. of Massachusetts. The bassinet cover is made of a pretty yellow, quilted fabric which is partially covered in a white floral, net lace with a gathered lace trim. The liners were made in a variety of styles. This particular one was a Style E - Hooded Liner. According to the label on the box, it “Completely Covers Inside and Outside of Both Hood and Basket”. The picture associated with the description shows the liner covering the hood and having a skirt draped to the floor. It would be a beautiful baby gift or it could cover a less than nice bassinet to make a nice display for vintage baby dolls. I would assume this is from the 1960’s.
According to the box information the size is listed as 15 x 30. I have not completely unfolded it to measure all of the dimensions since doing so would mean it would never go back in the back and be the same. It appears to have never been used and is in very nice condition. There are a few tiny rust stains such as the one I pointed out in the photo.
This pretty piece comes in its original box with a drawing of a young mother holding her new baby on the lid. It has the phrase; Mothers Who Care Choose Kantwet. Regarding the size the box goes on to say “will fit all medium size (Redmon, Hawkeye, etc.) using pads up to 15” x 30”.”
The box measures about 11” by 14” by 3 ½” and is in fairly nice condition with light crease and edge wear and small tears.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
