This old tool is knockout punch set by the Greenlee Company of Rockford, Illinois. The tool was intended to facilitate in the enlargement of knockout holes in electrical boxes whenever larger conduit was being used. This set consists of five pieces, the 3 9/16” long ¾” diameter bolt and both a 1 ½” and 2” punch and die. These pieces come in the original leather case which has a strap and buckle. The case is embossed; Greenlee No. 737 Knockout Punch Rockford, Ill.. Both dies are marked with a patent number that was filed in 1928. These quality machined tools are also sometimes referred to as sheet metal slug punches.
The tool pieces appear to be in very good, minimally used condition and the blades seem to have a pretty sharp edge. The case measures about 5 ¾” tall by about 3 3/8” in diameter tapering to about 2 ¼”. It is in good original condition with some scuff wear and discoloration. The strap and buckle are in tact but the leather on the strap is a bit brittle and will probably not hold up to a lot of use. The weight on the set is almost 4 pounds.
