This is an old photograph of the beautiful Grand Lake which is located north west of Denver, Colorado. I believe this hand tinted photo is by the photographer Harry Landis Standley. The photo captures the mountains, wooded shoreline and log building on the shore and the beauty is mirrored in the lake. Under the photo is the pencil signature of Standley and “Grand Lake Colorado”. The photo is mounted to a piece of gray paper which is mounted to the cream mat board back. The original frame is simple with a slight pebble texture which is painted and highlighted with gold. There is protective glass over the photo and it appears to have the original paper over the back with eyelets and wire for hanging. There is also a paper label on the back from Brown’s Art Shop of Boise, Idaho. H.L. Standley is well known for his work in the mountains of Colorado.
The photograph measures about 2 3/8” by 6 7/8” and the frame measures about 5 7/8” by 11 ½”. Overall is in nice condition with good colors and light wear. The glass is in tact with no damage. There is a water stain on the lower right corner of the mat which I have shown in the photos. The corners of the frame have some surface damage. The top right corner and the lower left corner are the worst and I have shown close-ups of them in the photos. The paper on the back has a few tears and a stain. The wire on the back may be original and one might consider reinforcing or replacing it.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
