This is an elegant old decanter with a large pinwheel design on either side. The opposing panels have a horizontal “x” with rays fanning upward. The neck is decorated on four sides with horizontal, oval slits in three sets of three. The neck flares into a bowl shape at the top with a polished top edge. The solid glass stopper is a slender, tapered shape that is polished to a point. Both the inside of the neck and the stopper are very faintly acid etched for a snug fit. The bottom has a 12 point starburst design. I believe this is considered cut glass but it is not sharply defined. The estate this came from had many trophy and presentation pieces. They sold this piece as being Waterford but I have been unable to identify the pattern and I find no marks on the bottom indicating the maker. It would be an beautiful way to serve even an inexpensive bottle of wine.
It measures about 16 ¼” to the top of the stopper and 11 ¾” high without the stopper. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no noted damage.
