This large porcelain monk is a vintage decanter from Schafer & Vater of Germany from the early 1900's. Besides being a wonderful decanter this is also a music box. When wound and lifted off the table to pour, this happy monk plays two tunes. One song is How Dry I Am but I don't recognize the other tune. It is done in a brown glaze and across the front of the monk's robe it reads; Spiritually Uplifting! The corked stopper has its original porcelain cap. It does not have the crown mark but is obviously an S & V piece.
It measures about 11 1/2" high and is in very good working condition with no chips, cracks or other damage.
