This is a small version of an old celluloid alligator letter opener with a black boy in his mouth. The alligator’s mouth is wide open and small pencil with the head of a black boy on the end is inserted so that it appears as though the boy has been all but eaten by the alligator. This is also a souvenir piece with Fairy Cave (possibly in Missouri) written on the gator's tail. It has a logo between its hind leg and is marked Japan. It also has a partial paper sticker which probably is an indication that it is a pre-war (WWII) piece. The pencil is also marked Japan.
It measures about 5 3/8” long with the pencil inserted. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
