A.H. Heisey & Co. of Newark, Ohio made a wide variety of glass animals in assorted sizes and this is one of those figurines. There was a series of ducks and this one is called Mallard – Wings Down. The base on the mallard series is generally referred to as the cloudy base, not because the glass is cloudy but because it resembles billowing clouds. If this had a molded Diamond H it would have been in the clouds but if this one had the mark it was fire polished off in production Luckily this has the original foiled paper label with the Heisey name and Diamond H trademark. This is a vintage Heisey piece, I believe from the 1950’s and not an Imperial remake.
This small size measures about 4 ¾” to the top of the duck’s head and it measures about 4 ½” from beak to tail. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. The label has some fading, wrinkles and edge wear.
