This cardboard box contains an old Sacroiliac truss or brace. It is made of canvas with leather straps and metal buckles, rubber tubing and a stiff leather pad behind the cloth laces. The label on the end of the original box reads; The Akron Truss Co., Inc. – Sacroiliac Style 305 – Size 42. The Akron Truss co. was in business in Ohio in the early 1900’s. Inside the box is an old envelope that reads; A.Rodamar’s Pharmacy Baker, Oregon so this was probably purchased at that establishment. I believe this is from the 1920’s or 1930’s. This is an old medical device and not intended for use.
The brace is in very good condition with seemingly minimal use. The fabric and the leather seem to be sound with minimal wear and age discoloration. The rubber is still supple but as previously stated this is not being sold to be used for any medical needs. The box measures about 6 1/8” by 9 ¼” by 1 ½” and it is in fairly good condition with light edge and corner wear.
