This porcelain plate is not only patriotic but it is also a calendar plate from 1918 and a souvenir from Nebraska. The months start at the lower left with January and go clockwise to December at the lower right. A bluebird is at the top with the year and there are four other birds dividing the calendar months. In the center of the plate has an accurate 1918 American flag with 48 stars. Below the flag it faintly reads; Compliments of G.H. Mathers, Danbury, Neb.. The designs are transfer applied and there is a gold accent line around the perimeter of the plate and just below the ring of calendars. The plate has a slightly scalloped edge. On the back it appears to be marked; D.E. McNicol – East Liverpool, O(Ohio)..
It measures about 8 3/8” in diameter and is in nice condition with light wear. There is age crazing and some of the crazing is stained but there are no chips or cracks. Most of the transfers are in good condition but the bird on the lower left near January appears to have had a fold when it was applied.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
