This this is a little block plane made by the Stanley tool company. This particular #101 plane was made from 1941 - 1962. It has the black japanned finish over the cast body, a red plate and a knurled tightening screw. The plane was designed for household and other light work but was also offered in toy tool boxes. The 1” wide blade has the Stanley - Made in U.S.A. logo.
Overall the plane measures about 3 7/16” in length by 1 ¼” wide and is in very good condition with minimal wear. There is the outline of a sticker of some kind on the back. The sole is smooth and generally clean. The blade also has remnants of a sticker on the back side. It has burn mark on the blade edge which appears to have never been sharpened and there is a teeny nick on one corner.
