This old baby doll has a molded tin head with painted feature. She has a cute face an open mouth smile and blue eyes. Her arms are wire so they can be posed and her hands appear to be enamel porcelain over papier mache. The cone shaped body appears to be a cloth covered billows which was meant to squeak when squeezed. The baby doll is dressed in a small pinstripe cotton sack dress with a matching bonnet with a ruffled edge. The fabric that covers the bottom is stamped; Fully Patented Made in U.S.A.. I believe this is from the early 1900’s.
The doll measures about 9” high excluding the bonnet ruffle. Overall the doll is nice condition but there are a few issues like the squeaker doesn’t squeak any more. There is some paint worn from the top of the head where the bonnet was apparently glued to it. There is a little surface rust on the back of the head which can be seen in the photos. The porcelain hands are chipped as shown in the photos. Another interesting note is that both hands appear to be right hands but this would be a manufacturing issue. The clothes are lightly soiled and faded.
