This little piece of celluloid advertising may have been used as a lapel button. The small oval has a picture of a hub and reads; This is the Hub That We Built. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the name of the company that built the hub. It has a metal back with two metal pieces that spread out like a paper fastener. When we bought this it was still attached in a suit’s lapel buttonhole. There is no maker on the metal or celluloid but I believe it was made by the Whitehead & Hoag company in the early 1900’s.
It measures about 3 ¼” long by 3/16” wide and is in good condition with minor wear. There is minimal scratch wear to the celluloid and there is a little rust on the metal back.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
