This vintage porcelain figure was made by the S & V company of Germany in the early 1900's. It features a grinning sailor with curly red hair. At the bottom it reads; We don't want to fight....yet he wears a hat that reads; Dreadnought. The Dreadnought was a heavily armed British battleship introduced in 1906 and from the black eyes of this sailor...he was a fighter. His arms are crossed in front of his chest and he has his left leg extended. On the bottom is the S & V crown mark, an incised four digit number and the word; Copyright.
It measures about 7 1/8" tall and is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage. There is a firing stress crack on his left wrist which can be seen in the photos. This is a manufacturing flaw.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
