This old salt dip is considered an individual as opposed to a master salt. Each person at the table would have his own little dish of salt accompanied by a little salt spoon often made of porcelain or sterling silver. This pretty, little footed dish is made of white porcelain decorated with a hand painted scene. It has an abstract horizon with colorful leaves in the foreground and what appears to be perhaps a lychee. The little feet have a decorative applied paint design. On the bottom is the green wreath, Hand Painted Nippon mark.
It measures about 2 1/2” in diameter and about 1” high and is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage.
