This tin is an old Samaritan First Aid Kit with many of the original products inside. This convenient kit could have been used at home or carried in the car for emergencies. The brown tin has a hinged lid and shows it was a Bauer & Black product, a Division of the Kendall Co. of Chicago. Inside the lid is a list of the items that were originally included in the kit. Included are boxes of Curity; Cotton, Surgical Gauze, Gauze Bandage in two sizes and Wet-Pruf Adhesive Tape. There is also a box of B&B Burn-a-lay ointment with a tube inside, a bottle for B & B Aromatic Spirits of Ammonia and a single B&B Handi-Tape bandaid. A simple sheet of paper with first aid helps acts as the “pamphlet”. Missing from the kit is a small box of Gauze Bandage, an iodine bottle, a pair of scissors and 5 of the Handi-Tape bandaids. I believe this is from the 1940’s - 1950’s.
The tin measures about 4 ½” by 7 ½” by 1 7/8” high and is in very nice condition with good gloss and minor scratch and rub wear. The boxes vary in size. Some of the boxes have been opened but most seem to have been unused even if they have been opened. The ointment tube is almost empty. Both the content list and the paper pamphlet are wrinkled but in fairly good condition.
