This little packet looks like a book of matches but it is actually a 1c package of Kleenex Lipsticks Tissues for your handbag. Small individual tissues are staple inside the and could be torn out as needed. The back side of the package is advertising Baby Ruth candy bars. The picture shows a man’s lunchbox with a candy bar packed in with the sandwich, apple, thermos and cookies. The cookies are made with Baby Ruth candy and the recipe is printed on the inside of the packet. Baby Ruth was a product of the Curtiss Candy Co. of Illinois. By the patent number inside I would date this from the late 1930’s to the early 1940’s when woman blotted their lips and candy bars were 5c.
This measures about 3” long by 1 7/8” wide and is in nice condition with minor edge wear. The tissues were poorly cut so the has a jagged edge but this is a manufacturing flaw and not damage to the piece.
