This old thimble is made of silver with a steel cap. The side of the thimble has a beautiful chased design which resembles a grape leaf vine. The design encircles the thimble and there is no stippling on the side. The cap is made of steel and is called a waffle dimple cap. It was apparently made in Sweden. In the crown there are several hallmarks. One is the 3 crown clover mark which is the national mark that signifies it is made of silver. There is a date stamp of S6 which indicates 1896 and there is a stamp of LA which is probably the company. There is one other mark which I can’t make out. To me it looks like it could be the profile of someone, perhaps a monarch or ruler but I really can’t determine what it is for sure and some say I have a vivid imagination. I don’t see any indication of size.
It measures about 7/8” high and about ¾” outside diameter and is in very nice condition. It has minimal scratch wear and there are no holes in the stippling. The steel cap is clean and not rusted or damaged.
