This sterling coin is from a series of art ingots which were made by the Hamilton Mint called The Countries of the World. This is the ingot for Brazil. On the side that reads Brazil there two beautifully detailed parrots with foliage and skyscrapers in the background. The opposing side has the image of Rio de Janeiro’s famous Christ the Redeemer statue. The portions in the photos that show dark or blue have a mirror finish which is reflecting the camera and is not really dark. Along the edge it is marked STERLING. It also has 4 small circles. They are difficult to make out but I think the first circle has the letter C. Next looks like a joined HM, I assume for Hamilton Mint. I think the next one has the letter P and the last has the number 77. This was purchased from the mint during the late 1970's or early 1980's. Each ingot in the series came with a 3 1/2" by 6" sheet of paper with statistics and a history of the country. This comes enclosed in its original plastic capsule and the fact sheet.
It measures 1" in diameter and weighs approximately 6.9 dwt. or 10.7 grams. I have never handled this without gloves or cleaned it but it has some discoloration and light scratches on the statue side.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
