This child’s old mug features the protector of the forest, Smokey the Bear. For generations this iconic bear has warned us of forest fires and has reminded us that only we can prevent them. This fun milk cup has Smokey’s face in relief on the front of the mug and a full figure of him as the handle. In both cases he is wearing his ranger hat and on the handle he has his right hand raised as if taking an oath. Along the bottom edge of the front it reads “I Like Milk”. On the back it reads “F” is for Forest - Keep Fire Away!. The mug is trimmed at both the top and bottom with two thin bands of pink. On the bottom it is stamped 36/33. I believe this was made in Japan, probably in the 1950’s or perhaps 1960’s.
It measures about 3 ¼” high to the top of the mug but it measures a little higher to the top of Smokey’s hat. The top of the mug measures about 2 11/16” in diameter. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. It does have some light glaze crazing.
