This old Alkadene dispenser would be a perfect display piece for a soda fountain or drug store display. It is similar to a Bromo-Seltzer or Alka-Seltzer dispenser. A bottle filled with seltzer wafers would have fit into the hole on the top of the painted metal body. To use you would place a glass on the base below the body, raise and then lower the handle on the right. That would dispense and crush a tablet into the glass which would then be filled with water for an evervescent tonic. The body with the name in raised letters on the front appears to be made of aluminum The raised letters in vertical stips down the front are not painted. The base and handle are probably chromed brass and the shaft connecting the two is chromed steel. The bottle is not original. We have fashioned a removeable plug for the hole and fit it with a screw on lid so it will accomadate the bottle. The piece of paper with the name "Alkadene" printed on it is inserted in the bottle to make for a nice display. The addition of the bottle has in no way, permanently altered the display.
It is in very good condition with minor wear. The plating is quite good with very little discoloration or pitting. The worst areas are along the cervices. The painted areas have some chips and scratches but shows generally well. The dispenser with the bottle measures about 15 3/8" tall. The base measures about 4" by 7 1/2".
