This old sterling spoon was a souvenir of the Hotel Del Monte which was in Monterey California. The bowl has a beautifully detail depiction of the hotel prior to 1924. The luxury hotel was apparently built in 1880. The elaborate handle appears to be California’s state flower, the poppy. Both the front and the back of the handle are heavily detailed.
The back of the handle is marked with the word Sterling and a hallmark that appears to be P & B. This would be the hallmark of the Paye & Baker Mfg. Company of North Attleboro Massachusetts.
It measures about 5 3/8” long and is in very good condition with minimal wear.
