Vintage Patternmaker’s Tools – Old Tailor-Dressmaker Curve Stick Ruler and Curve Template
These two items would have been used by a tailor or pattern making seamstress. The first item is a 26” curve ruler that is made of wood, possible maple. The 1/8” increment rule is marked on the outside curve of both sides. The metal ends appear to be brass. There is no evidence of the maker. There is an old paper sticker glued to one end with a handwritten OU. It measures about 1 5/16” wide and is in fairly nice condition with good finish and minor wear. The wood is slightly warped so it doesn’t lie perfectly flat.
The second piece appears to be a specialty curve template made of fibreboard with a brass edge. A difficult piece to measure but basically it measures about 20” in length by about 1 ½” wide at one end, 1 1/8” wide at the narrowest part and 2 7/8” at the widest part of the curve. It too has a slight warp so it doesn’t lie perfectly flat and there is a little discoloration to areas of the fiberboard.
Priced and sold as the pair.
