This cute figurine was designed and copyrighted by Catherine McCullough. The image of a young child being licked on the face by an anxious puppy is irresistible. The baby is dressed in a diaper and was obviously having fun with a stack of building blocks before the small dog interrupted. The artist has captured the expression of the child so perfectly. Across the back it reads; Catherine McCullough – Copyright. According to a 1948 newspaper article the artist sculpted the design in clay, made a mold and then created the art pieces out of a composition material. Some of Mc Cullough’s works were patented in the 1940’s so I would assume this piece is from the period.
It measures about 2 3/8” high and the base measures about 2 3/8” by 1 ¾” and it is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage.
