This old travel map of Los Angeles and Vicinity was probably given out at a gasoline service station when there were actually attendants to pump your gas and check your oil. Two thirds of the one side has a general map with the major roads and highways of the metropolitan city in California. The bottom portion has a listing which includes the cities, beaches, race tracks, airports and more. One of the panels has L.A. Traffic Rules. The other side has a much more detailed map of the Los Angeles streets of which there were a lot. The map folds in thirds with 7 sections for a total of 21 panels. The bright Shell logo is shown in several areas of the map which has a copyright by The H.M.Gousha Co. of Chicago. The bottom of one panel has, what I believe to be, a date code dating this to 1946.
Opened fully it measures about 27” by 28” and in its closed state it measures about 4” by 9”. It is in good condition with minimal edge wear. There is some minor soiling and stains to the outer front and back.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
