This old watch strap appears to be made of leather with a stamped design that looks like tooling. Two pieces of thin leather are laced along the edges with a dark brown lacing. The name “Ranchero” is stamped in the center portion where a watch face would go. The band is fitted with non-magnetic metal pieces, probably plated brass, that have a pale pink cast to the color. They have a decorative, stamped design flowers, scrolls and even a horse head. The watch band originally came on a cardboard display that reads; Ranchero Watch Straps - A Cowan Product - A Sturdy Hand-Laced Western Strap.
The display card is shown in the photos for reference and is not included with the watch strap.
The band measures about 10 ¾” in overall length from the metal tip to the outer edge of the buckle. There are six holes for size adjustments and the circumference range is about 7 ½” to 8 ¾”.
It measures about 5/8” at the narrowest and about 1 1/8” at the widest part. The area between the two loop where the watch pins goes measures about 1”. I think this would have taken a watch like a Timex from the 1950’s or 1960’s. It is in very good, unused condition.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
