This black bowl looks like a console piece but it is actually a small size. It has a simple design with sculpted lines that form four feet. The inside of the bowl is slightly domed so it won’t work as an under tray for a planter. It has a high gloss, black glaze and it appears that the clay is light colored. There is a very slight iridescence to the black. Its simplicity and gloss glaze are reminiscent of an Anna Van Briggle piece but it is not marked and is not being sold as such. It would be a nice accent piece or it could be used for candy or as a catchall.
It measures about 6 1/8” in diameter with an opening about 4 13/16” in diameter and it’s about 2” high. It is in good condition with minor scuff wear. There are a few spots on the bottom that are unglazed which I feel were in the manufacturing but there is one tiny chip to the glaze on one of the feet.
