This is a nice old cookbook called The American Woman’s Cook Book. This wonderful reference was edited and revised by Ruth Berolzheimer, director of the Culinary Arts Institute, from the Delineator Cook Book. The beginning of the book has useful information regarding food, its preservation, preparation and presentation. That is followed by hundred of recipes for just about every category you can think of as seen by the Table of Contents page. The recipes are pretty straight forward but there are no illustration. The book does have a smathering of colored photos. It has 856 pages including an extensive index. It must have been an extremely popular book. This edition has a 1972 copyright and published by Doubleday & Co., Inc. of New York with copyrights beginning as early as 1938 by the Consolidated Book Publishers of Chicago.
It measures about 5 7/8” by 8 ¼” by 2 3/8” and is in fairly good, used condition. The cover shows wear with frayed corners, a little soiling and some tiny tears along the spine edge. Most of the pages appear to be clean with only a few pages being creased and dog-earred. A couple of pages are marked on. The spine is generally tight.
