This pretty porcelain piece is beautifully decorated with a colorful floral pattern similar to Dresden Rose and Dresdenia. It has a white ground which showcases the multi-colored flowers. The top edge of the bowl and its upper side have a pale cream band. The inside edge and foot of the bowl are embellished with a gold trim and the elegant handles are more heavily decorated. The edge of the lid and its finial are also decorated with gold. It dates between 1945 - 1952 and on the bottom it is marked; Sango China - Made in Occupied Japan.
Look for other serving pieces in this pattern in my shop as well as a six piece place setting, service for 8.
It measures 5 ¼” in diameter excluding the handles, about 6 5/8” across at the handles and about 4 ¼” high with the lid on. It is in nice condition with light wear. One side of one handle has a hairline crack which I have shown in the close-up photo. It has not broken through nor has it been repaired and it has been taken into consideration in the price.
