This old celluloid piece is a small pencil holder. The black celluloid base has a depression across the top front for a pencil to lay in. Behind the pencil rest are two miniature elephants, both with their trunks up. The larger of the two is nicely detailed and has a thin cord tied around its foot. The other end of the cord as a short mechanical pencil attached to it. The baby elephant isn’t as nicely detailed but cute nonetheless. The bottom of the base is marked; Japan. I don’t find any markings on the pencil The tip of it turns to move the lead but there is no longer lead in it.
The base measures about 2 ½” wide by 2” deep and overall it measures about 1 1/8” tall. It is in good condition with minimal wear and no damage or missing pieces. As previously stated the pencil does not come with any lead. There is some scuff wear to the paint on the plastic body of the pencil which measures about 3” in length.
