This adorable old bisque figurine was made by the Ceramic Art Studio which was in operation in Madison Wisconsin from the early 1940’s until 1956. The blonde child has a fair complexion with a blush of color on its cheeks, hands, feet and toes. The baby is dressed in a white gown with short ruffled sleeves. The hands are posed so a baby’s feeding spoon can rest in the right hand. Across the bottom edge of the pale pink base it is embossed; Baby’s First Spoon. The bottom is stamped with the Ceramic Arts Studio copyright. I believe this piece is from the 1950’s.
It measures about 5 ¼” high and the base measures about 3 1/8” by 3 ¼” and it is in very nice condition with minimal wear and no damage. There are two small bits of porcelain on the bottom edge which are in the manufacturing. I am noting these burrs in the photo and care should be taken when setting this on a piece of furniture.
This came to me with the spoon that is in the photos and I am selling it as I received it. The spoon is marked Wm.A Rogers – Oneida, Ltd. I believe the pattern of the silver plated spoon is called Chalice / Harmony which was first issued in 1958. It measures about 4” in length.
