This old celluloid button is advertising Hoyt’s Flintstone Belting. The center of the button has a world globe with bands wrapping around it that read; J.B. Hoyt & Co. – Glen Cove – New York. Above and below the Trade Mark globe it reads; Hoyt’s Flintstone Belting - Estate E.R.Ladew - Our Field Distributors - Buffalo Mill Supply Co. – Buffalo, N.Y.. Attached to the back of the celluloid button is a metal clip that could be hung on the wall for holding bills or notes. I find no maker on either the celluloid or the clip. I believe this is from the early 1900’s.
The button is the same size as most of the old advertising pocket mirrors, it measures about 1 ¾” in diameter. The celluloid has good color and gloss with minor scuff wear and minimal discoloration and tiny bumps. The metal clip has some light rust. The spring works and retains most of the original bluing.
