This old planter with the colorful clown figurine will bring a smile to your face. The clown is dressed in a green and white jump suit, covered with red polka dots and trimmed with porcelain spaghetti “fur” tufts that are accented in gold. He has a wide smile and has exes for eyes. His hat is purple with a red pom-pom and he’s wearing yellow shoes. One of his gloved hands is waving and the other is resting on the back edge of the pink drum that acts as the planter. His face is a matte finish and the rest is a shiny glaze. IT appears that most of the color is under glaze except for the red, black and gold. It is not marked but I would assume it was made in Japan and is from the 1950’s.
The clown measures about 6 ¼” to the top of the pom-pom and the planter portion measures about 2 5/8” tall by 2 7/8” across and 2 ½” deep. It is in very good condition with minimal wear and no damage. The inside of the planter has some crazing from having been used.
