This old bank is in the form of a young Sonics basketball player. It is made of a painted composition material and is quite colorful. The boy has a cute face with a wide smile and upward glancing eyes and he’s holding a basketball in his right arm. He’s wearing a green uniform with gold trim. Across the front of the jersey is the Sonics name with a star over the “i” and a lightening bolt under the name. I believe this represents the uniforms that were used in the late 1960’s into the mid 1970’s. There is a 1 ½” coin slot on the back and a 1” by 1 ¼” diameter hole in the bottom. There are 4 small, felt pads on the bottoms edge. It also has the original, gold foiled, paper label from Sports Specialties of Los Angeles. It was made in Japan.
It measures about 6 ¾” high and is in very nice condition with minimal wear. The are a few paint blemishes on the top of his head. It is missing the original rubber plug. There is a circular, cracked flaw between his feet which is shown in the close-up photo.
