This little celluloid piece is a child's old rattle. The cream side has a nursery rhyme that reads; Little Jack Horner - Sat in a corner - Eating his - Christmas pie!. The back side is hot-pink and both side has a pressed pinwheel design. The round portion rotates within the twisted celluloid handle. I don’t find a country of origin and I assume that is from the 1930's or 1940's. It sounds like it has a single item, marble-like, inside to make it "rattle" when shaken.
The ball measures about 2 3/8” across and the total length is about 5 ¾”. It is in good with minor wear. The two halves of the ball are a bit crudely assembled and the pink edge is irregular. The picture of Jack has nice color.
