This is a nice old razor strop with its original cardboard box. The leather strop is coiled in a metal, nickel plated housing with the following information embossed on the front; Torrey’s Razor Strop - J.R. Torrey & Co. Worcester, Mass. U.S.A. - Patented Aug. 24, 1909 - July 23RD 1912. The cylinder has metal end caps and a loop at the top for hanging so the strop can be pulled out easily for use. A tab is sewn to the strop, on one side it reads; Torrey Honing Strop No. 5A. It also indicates which side is for finishing and which is for sharpening.
It measures about 2 ½” wide and 1 7/8” in diameter. The strop measures about 2” wide and comfortably pulls out about 12” and retracts. The housing is in very nice condition with light wear and minor discoloration, mostly on the end caps which were not plated well. The strop does show usage wear but not abuse and the tab is in very nice condition with light wear to the lettering.
The box has a picture of a Pullman Strop on the lid and is stamped with the No. 5A model and the front panel of the box also has the name and company information.
It measures about 2 5/8” high and 2 ¼” square. It shows nicely but does have condition issues with worn and lightly torn edges and some soiling. The top flap is torn off and inner flaps are torn but still attached.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
