The cover of this old sheet music for Spread Yo’ Stuff “Blues Deluxe” Fox Trot has fun graphics depicting a stereotypical black couple struttin’ their stuff on the dance floor. The guy with his wide grin is dressed in a wild suit, stripped tie and spats. His dance partner is wearing a fashionable outfit of the early 20’s accessorized with a fur wrap and plumed hat. She is also flashing the large diamond ring on her finger. The black and white line drawing is accented with orange to make for a very striking cover. The lyrics about “Wicked Feet Miss Susie Brown” were written by Al Bernard with music by Jules Levy and Paul Crane. The back has a listing of other music that was available from the publisher Triangle Music of New York. It has a copyright date of 1921.
It measures about 9 ¼” by 12 3/16”. It is completer and in fairly good condition with minor creases, small tears and edge wear. The paper is worn over the name on the front. This is a nice view of 1920’s black Americana.
