This lovely old charger is beautifully decorated with a transfer decal of quails in a native setting. The birds are nicely detailed in rich colors. The brown tones of the plate are pleasing and the deep, scalloped edge is enhanced with ornate gold detailing. The color is a little darker and more subdued than I was able to capture in the photos. On the back is a gray lion and crown mark of the Carl Schumann factory. It reads; Bavaria - Schumann - Arzberg - Germany. There is an old, typed, paper label on the back from a previous shop or owner.
It measures about 11 5/8” in diameter and 1 ½” off the table. It is in very good condition with light wear. There is a scratch to the decal across the back of the male bird’s back. There is also wear to the inside ring of gold and light rub and scratch marks to the background from use I would imagine. It still displays nicely.
