This old malt canister is made of an opaque white glass which is generally referred to as milk-glass. Stenciled on the front is CARNATION in red and MALTED MILK in green. These were commonly found on the back bar of old soda fountains and held the powdered malt for making malts as opposed to shakes. They were provided by different companies to advertise their product and keep their company name in view. This has its original aluminum lid.
It measures about 8 5/8" tall with the lid on and the glass canister measures about 6 1/4" in diameter at the top and 5 5/8" in diameter at the bottom and 6 1/8" high without the lid. It is in good condition with minimum wear. There is a slight amount of scratch wear on the lid the worst shown in the pictures and a few tiny dents. There are two stress cracks in the glass as shown in the photos. These do not appear to be on the inside, just the outside and they can’t be felt on either the inside or outside. The second picture shows it lit from inside.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
