This old handbag appears to be made of a fine weave fabric that is covered with beads of varying sizes. Some of the micro beads have a metallic finish. Other tiny beads are clear like little crystal beads. Faux pearl beads fill out the design as well as add accent to the design. There are some elongated, gold colored glass beads made into flowers that give the purse a little extra flair. Two bead covered circles are sewn to the top edge acting as the handle. The bead work all looks hand stitched. The purse has a zipper closure with and interesting brass chain for the pull. Inside there is a small, sewn in compartment which may have been for a small mirror. It has no label or other identification. I believe it is from the late 1920’s or early 1930’s.
It measures about 5 ¼” wide at the bottom, about 5 ¼” long lying flat and excluding the handle or 7” in total length. The bottom is made so that it measure about 1 ½”. It is in nice condition but not without wear. There are some beads missing, primarily some of the faux pearl beads at some of the horizontal and vertical intersections. I have shown a close-up of where the beads are missing. The zipper works and the inside is basically clean and odor free.
