This old lithoed tin race car is called the Indianapolis Hero - Ferrari Racing Car. The car has colorful red & cream colored graphics with yellow and black checkerboard accents. The hood of the car has the number "7" and on each side of the car is a circle that reads: Indianapolis 500 with the number 63 in the center. Behind the translucent plastic windshield sits the drivers head with a helmet that has the number "7". The body of the driver and the cockpit space are lithoed with a slightly raised molding. The front grill and what I assume to be the exhaust mounted on the front of the hood, are both plated tin. The rubber tires have plated tin hubcaps. The rear of the car is marked; Made in Japan. It has a Friction Powered motor which activates a "Siren". It measures about 9" long and about 4" across at the wheels. It measures about 3 1/8" high to the top of the race car drivers head. It is in very good condition with minimal wear. There are some minor scratches on parts of the bottom and along the bottom half of the edge. The plastic windshield is split as shown in the photos. The friction motor an siren both work well.
It comes with its original lightweight cardboard box with a slip on lid that has the original Woolworth price sticker of 47c on the front. The graphics on the lid are a good representation of the car except that the number on the side of the car is different from the number on the box. The box reads; Made in Japan and also has a triangular logo with ASC in the center. It measures about 9 1/4" by 4 1/16" by 3" and is in fairly good condition with light wear. It has some soiling or other stain discoloration and it appears to have "35.00" in pen on the front, top middle. It is presently shrunk wrapped for protection and will be shipped that way.
