This old black and white, glossy photo has a young boy (he looks familiar like a child actor of the 50’s) showing great joy over his Erector toy. The addition of floating snowflakes would indicate this was to be used prior to the Christmas season. Along with the photograph is a typewritten Press Release from Aaron D. Cushman & Associates of Chicago. It was for The A.C. Gilbert Co. - Erector Square - New Haven Connecticut and was for Immediate Release (unfortunately no date). The Photo Caption stating that Erector Sets were priced from $3.98 to $59.98. It states that; a powerful little motor makes this crane really operate! It also tells about the Power-Matic Programmer being a favorite new accessory for young engineers. This press release was apparently taped to the back of the photo originally.
The photo measures about 8” by 10” and in nice condition light creasing especially in the right upper corner. The letter measures about 8 ½” by 11” and has been folded about 1 13/16” from the bottom and has otherwise minimal wear and creases. Both pieces have tape residue with a piece of the tape being present but no longer attached.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
