This is an old tin that originally held a dozen A.W. Faber Castell, wood pencils. The hinged lid has the company name and a small but colorful and nicely detail picture of jousting knights. It has been suggested that the knights are jousting with pencils as their lances. The knight riding the horse in red is reigning victorious over the knight with the yellow, broken lance/pencil. This is a fun story whether there is any truth to its original intent. The inside of the lid is a statement written in three languages, I believe it’s French, German and English. There is a paper label on one end that reads; F (indicating the hardness of the lead).
The empty tin measures about 7 1/8” by 2 1/8” by 5/8” and is in fairly nice condition with good color and gloss. It does have some scratch and scuff wear and dents, especially on the bottom.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
