This old piece of black memorabilia was probably a home project made by someone who enjoyed crocheting. The body is cut from a piece of plywood that has been painted black. The eyes look like old paper hole reinforcers that have been glued on with a little painted added in the middle and the lips are painted on also. The clothes appear to be hand crocheted. The dress is one piece, pinkish red with white trim. The apron is white with the red trim. It has straps that cross in the front and back and then appear to tie into a bow and there is a little applied pocket on the front. There is a matching hat attached to her head that has a small ring on the front. I think the ring was used to hang this on the kitchen wall. Painted thumbtacks are driven into the front of her feet.
She measures about 14 ½” from the top of her hat to the bottom of her feet and she measures about 6 ½” across at the shoulders. She’s in nice condition with minor wear and light soiling. The paper ring on her left eye is slightly frayed. The hat and the back of the clothes show the most soiling and there is a small stain on the apron as shown in the photo close-up.
