This old vertical pocket tin is a Velvet Pipe & Cigarette Tobacco tin. This tin has the shield design. The shield has three segments with a pipe in the center, a lit cigarette at the bottom and the smoke rising in the top panel. The tin is a rich, maroon red which didn’t photograph well. The back tells of the quality of the tobacco. This was manufactured by the Liggett & Meyers Tobacco Co. Across the lid and down the sides is the tax label which I believe is the two ounce, 1910 label. On the bottom is a striker for matches.
The empty tin measures about 4 3/8” by 3” by 15/16” and is in nice condition with good color and gloss and minor wear. It has some light scratch and rub wear and minor dents. Something has been written in pencil across the tax stamp.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
