This small automotive radiator is either an old salesman's sample or promotional model. It could have been used as a paperweight or desk piece.
As it states on the back; This is a sample of the core of a Mc Cord Continuous Fin Tubular Type Radiator Used on over 1,000,000 Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles and Graham Brothers Trucks Strongest Type of Radiator - Non Clogging - Non Corrosive - Easy to Repair
It is made with very nice detail. The fins are thin and the frame appears to be nickel plated brass. It comes with a base that appears to be cast of lead that has the McCord name across the front. The radiator core slips onto the post on the base. The core actually slips clear down to the base as shown in the last picture but we have used a spacer to raise it up slightly because we think it displays nicer. I believe it is from the 1920’s.
The radiator portion measures about 2 ¾” from the bottom of the frame to the top of the radiator cap. It measure about 2 3/16” across the frame and about 1 ¾” from front to back. The base measures about 2 ¼” in diameter.
The radiator is in nice condition with light wear. The fins are fairly straight considering their delicate nature. The nickel plating is thin and there are areas of discoloration. This is in original condition and has not been polished or buffed. The top side of the base is in nice condition but the bottom is crude and nicked.
The pictures are not shown at actual size. Please refer to the description for actual measurements.
