This funny looking old flask has a funny title “Giggle Soup” which is written across the front. The grinning gentleman is dressed in a white jump suit with ruffled collar and cuffs. Over his shoulders is a bright, reddish orange cape and on his stomach is a mirror framed with yellow flower petals. In the left hand of this funny gent is a small goblet and across the lower front of the nip it reads; Giggle Soup. This phrase once referred to alcoholic beverages which would explain the silly grin on this guys face. The hat on his head is also the corked lid for the flask. The back of the flask has the brown gloss glaze that was commonly used by the S & V company. I believe this was made by the Schafer & Vater company of Germany in the early 1900's. It is very faintly and incomplete but I think the embossed S & V crown mark is on the bottom. Even if the mark isn’t there, I feel quite comfortable attributing this piece to the S & V company.
It measures about 5 ½” to the top of his hat and the base measures about 1 ¾” by 2 ¼”. It is in very nice condition with minor wear. The mirror appears to be original with discoloration around the edge. The cork in the cap is rough and a little torn up but at least it has survived with the flask.
